I-League – Real Kashmir FC Outclass RoundGlass Punjab FC in a tense encounter: RoundGlass Punjab FC went down to Real Kashmir FC in their Hero I-League 2021-22 match on Friday at the Kalyani Stadium in West Bengal, with the scoreline reading 0-2.
Match Summary:
The first half began with both sides vying for supremacy. Seven minutes into the match, Maheson Singh’s deflected shot fell to Travis Major, who put the ball into the net from close range. However, the goal was chalked off as the Australian was adjudged to be offside.
A minute later, Real Kashmir took the lead through Mason Robertson.
RoundGlass Punjab FC increased the pressure on the opposition goal, with Ashish Jha forcing rival keeper Bilal Khan into a low save in the 10th minute. Major latched on to a through ball from JosebaBeitia in the 19th minute, but his shot was saved.
Kurtis Guthrie volleyed an effort towards goal from the top of the penalty area in the 25th minute, which was just off target.
Chances continued to come for RoundGlass Punjab FC as Jha and Maheson came close a minute later. Guthrie had a free-kick punched out by Khan, while Shankar Sampingiraj’s powerful drive from distance in the 44th minute was just shy of a goal.
Second Half:
The teams went into the breather with one goal between them. Maheson came close to leveling the scores with a shot three minutes after the break. However, Real Kashmir doubled its advantage in the 49th minute through substitute Surchandra Singh.

Guthrie had another shot saved from a tight angle at the hour mark. In the 75th minute, a cross from substitute Rupert Nongrum found the Englishman but his header flashed wide of goal.
Bikash Yumnam almost halved the deficit with a headed attempt from a corner-kick three minutes later, while Guthrie had another shot saved with 10 minutes of play left.
The match drew to a close with a two-goal difference on the scoreboard. In its next match, RoundGlass Punjab FC will face Sudeva Delhi FC on April 2.
