  • East Bengal FC is all set to host FK Arkadag of Turkmenistan at Kolkata for the 1st leg of AFC Challenge League Quarter Final. Before both teams lock horns, we did a small research on how strong the Turkmenistan side is.

    Unlike East Bengal, FK Arkadag is a recently formed club. They were founded on 1st April, 2023, which makes them less than 2 years old. Despite being founded just two years ago, Arkadag FK has already made a significant impact in the Ýokary Liga, Turkmenistan’s top-flight league.

    Domestic Dominance

    Arkadag FK’s impressive record in the Ýokary Liga is a testament to their strength. They won the league title in 2023, remaining undefeated throughout the season, and followed it up with another title win in 2024. This dominance has earned them 13 national-team call-ups, a clear indication of their talent pool.

    Continental Debut

    The AFC Challenge League marks Arkadag FK’s first-ever continental tournament. Despite being newcomers, they have already made a significant impact, qualifying for the Quarter Finals by defeating two-thirds of the teams in their group stage. B. Akmamedov has been their top scorer in the tournament, and his form will be crucial in the upcoming match.
