CFL 2025: Defending champions Emami East Bengal FC defeat United SC 2-1 in the league decider to win their record-extending 41st CFL title – In a thrilling decider at the East Bengal Ground, defending champions Emami East Bengal FC defeated United SC 2-1 to secure their record-extending 41st Calcutta Football League Premier Division title. With the championship on the line, the Red & Gold Brigade needed a draw to defend their crown.

Playing at a packed home ground, EEB started the game with just a couple of changes to their starting XI, as Debjit Majumder and Chaku Mandi made way for Gourab Shaw and Monotosh Chakladar, respectively. EEB started brightly, dominating possession and pressing high, but United SC’s defence held firm in the opening exchanges.

The breakthrough came in the 37th minute via David Lalhlansanga. After Sayan Banerjee’s powerful shot from outside the box was saved by the rival custodian, David scored off the rebound to register his fifth goal of the ongoing CFL.

The first half belonged to EEB, with Sayan Banerjee, Joseph Justin and Vishnu PV causing constant threats.

United SC, emerged revitalized after the break. They found the equalizer in the 88th minute via Amit Basak.

The Red & Golds regrouped quickly as a swift counter-attack culminated in the winner in the 88th minute. After Vanlalpeka Guite’s shot from close range was denied by the rival custodian, Shyamal Besra slotted home the rebound to restore the lead.

United SC pushed for a late goal, but a crucial save from Shaw in the stoppage time helped EEB protect their 2-1 lead.

Lauding the team for consecutive CFL triumphs, EEB B Team Head Coach Bino George said, “We had a few hiccups in the initial stages of this CFL, but credit must go to my team and the support staff for showing mental fortitude and staging an inspirational turnaround.”
