CFL 2025 Match Preview: The United SC challenge awaits defending champions Emami East Bengal FC in the Championship Round decider – In a bid to defend their Calcutta Football League Premier Division crown, Emami East Bengal FC will tak on United SC in the deciding Championship Round fixture at the East Bengal Ground tomorrow afternoon (Kickoff – 3 PM).
With 40 CFL titles in their cabinet, the Red & Gold Brigade will head into the decider as the current toppers of the Championship Round (6 points from 2 games; Goal Difference: +5), needing just a draw to reclaim the title.
After topping Group A with 23 points from 11 games, EEB won their first two Championship Round matches against United Kolkata SC and Diamond Harbour FC respectivel, thus maintaining a six-match winning streak.
The toppers of Group B United SC, meanwhile, can also claim the title if they win on Monday. After winning their Championship Round opener 2-0 over Calcutta Customs, United recovered from a 2-1 deficit to eventually eke out a 2-2 draw against Suruchi Sangha last Thursday, thanks to Sreenath M’s brace.
Wary of the threats posed by United SC, EEB B Team Head Coach Bino George sounded cautious on the eve of the high-stakes match. “United were the toppers of Group B, so they are definitely a formidable side. Our players have improved gradually as the league has progressed. Playing the decider on our home turf will be a huge motivation for our players. I would request our fans to fill the East Bengal Ground tomorrow and rally behind our boys as we give our best to defend our CFL title,” he said.
The match can be streamed live on the SSEN app.
