FIFA-AFC threatens AIFF with suspension & withdrawal of hosting rights of the U17 Women’s World Cup: Just when we think that everything would go smoothly in All India Football Federation, things are again looking a bit gloomy. A joint letter by FIFA-AFC to AIFF has created shockwaves among the Indian Football community. The joint letter asked for clarifications from the general secretary and threatened a possible suspension and withdrawal of hosting rights of the upcoming U17 Wome’s World Cup. However, CoA is having a continuous discussion with FIFA to inform the happenings.

FIFA-AFC threatens AIFF sighting clarifications on the Supreme Court order

FIFA has sought clarifications from the AIFF about the last week’s Supreme Court order as the letter says, ” We kindly ask AIFF to provide all details without further delay with an official transcript of the Supreme Court’s decision of 3 August 2022 by 17.00 hours IST on 9 August 2022.

Meanwhile, the Committee of Administrators(CoA) has informed FIFA  that the current verdict is complying with the roadmap and will have a democratically elected body for the AIFF much before the deadline set by the World Football governing body. This is the first time CoA, headed by SC Judge Anil Dave, former Indian captain Bhaskar Ganguly, and former chief election commissioner Dr. SY Qureshi has written a direct letter to FIFA informing all these things.

So, we are still a few days away from any developments. However, fans are a bit confused about these developments taking place. It remains to be seen how things will shape up, as India are preparing for the U17 Women’s World Cup. Prime minister Narendra Modi has already shared his thoughts on the upcoming World Cup which will take place in three different cities.
