Greg Stewart Mumbai City FC: After a disappointing season, ISL 2021-22 champions Mumbai City has made their first move in the transfer with one of the signings of the season. The Islanders have acquired the services of last year’s best player, Greg Stewart on a two-year deal. The former Rangers midfielder was uncertain about his future and whether he would stay in India or not. However, all the speculation end now as the playmaker has decided to join Mumbai City FC from Jamshedpur FC.

Mumbai City FC have won the double i.e ISL 2020-21 League Shield and ISL cup. However, the Islanders managed to finish at the 5th 3 points adrift of Kerala Blasters. The team from Mumbai made a strong start winning five out of the first six matches but eventually fell apart in the latter stages of the campaign. Meanwhile, The Islanders made their historic debut in the AFC Champions League with six points finishing 2nd in the group, failing to advance due to negative goal differences.

Greg Stewart had a phenomenal season scoring 10 goals and adding 10 assists. He had contributed to almost 50 % of Jamshedpur FC’s goals. The men of Steel tried very hard to convince him. With Owen Coyle leaving the club to join Queens Park, Greg has decided to join Mumbai City FC.  Greg Stewart was by far the best player in the leagues he went past defenders and scored mesmerizing goals for fun.
In the recently concluded champions league, Mumbai City constantly missed a creative spark in the final third and the signing of the midfielder will bolster their squad. The team has gathered quality players like Apuia, Chhangte, Vikram, Rahul, Ahmed Jahouh, and Fall.  It remains to be seen how the Islanders use the midfielder to repeat his last year’s success.
