Ahmed Jahouh gave Mumbai City the lead through a 33rd-minute penalty. Fellow midfielder Apuia Ralte doubled the advantage for the Islanders in the 60th minute. Al Ain’s Jonas pulled a goal back in the 79th minute but Mumbai City defended resolutely and held on to register a remarkable win.

Mumbai City FC, under head coach Des Buckingham, has set up a training camp in Al Forsan in Abu Dhabi, UAE where the Islanders are preparing for their historic participation in the Group Stage of the 2022 AFC Champions League scheduled to take place from April 8, 2022, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Mumbai City FC ACL Campaign:
The club from Mumbai became the second team to represent India in the AFC Asian Champions League. Last year, they have managed to win the ISL Shield to secure the berth. Mumbai City FC head coach Des Buckingham has joined the club before the start of the new season. The club finished fifth in the league standings behind Jamshedpur FC, Hyderabad FC, ATK Mohun Bagan, Kerala Blasters.
Indian players like Bipin Singh, Rahul Bheke, Chhangte will play a huge role in their success. Meanwhile, the Islanders will start their ACL journey against Al-Shabab on 8th April.
