10 Men Chennaiyin FC, and Bengaluru FC share spoils in a feisty battle – ISL 2022-23: Chennaiyin FC settled for a point against Bengaluru FC after their goalkeeper, Debjit Majumdar was sent off for handling the ball outside the box. Meanwhile, the Iranian defender, Vafa put on the goalkeeping gloves to see out the match as the full-time score was 1-1.

Both teams had a perfect start to the campaign, securing victories in their respective opening games. After a gap of more than two years, the Marina Machans came to support their club in big numbers. However, they were soon silenced in the 4th minute by Roy Krishna as his header rooted Debjit on the spot and found the bottom right corner. With the passing of time, Chennaiyin grew into the game, and their relentless pressure paid off as Prasanth slotted past onrushing Gurpreet to draw level in the additional minutes of the first half. It was a stalemate at the break.
Chennaiyin FC upped the ante in the second half as they found spaces behind the wing-backs at regular intervals, The flavor of Karikari and Edwin was added to the mix by Brdaric but BFC remained solid and looked to hit on the break. Eventually, it led to a match-turning decision as Debjit handled the ball outside the box to stop Roy Krishna and the goalkeeper was sent off 8 minutes before the regulation time. Vafa put on the goalkeeping kits to see out the game as Bengaluru FC failed to take any advantage.
We are only into the game week 2 as teams are shaping themselves for the season. It remains to be seen how these two teams fare in the season as they had comparably difficult last few seasons.
