IPL Media Rights 2023-2027: The biggest T20 sporting event in the cricket world, TATA IPL 2022 has started this year on 26th March, and on Tv. The current broadcasters are Star Sports 1 in English Star sports 3 in Hindi in other languages also. The digital rights have previously been sold to Disney plus Hotstar. Now for the first time, BCCI has conducted an auction for the IPL media rights and Digital partnering facilities.
The Invitation to Tender (ITT) has been distributed to all the digital rights holders. Moreover, there will be no bidding this time but the auction will decide the future of IPL digital media rights partners of 2023-2027 circles.
IPL Media Rights:
When the IPL first began the media rights value was just 8 to 9cr per year. After that year BCCI again revised the deal and this time by bidding process the media rights value was around 80-100cr per year. In the previous year circle, i.e 2018-2022 BCCi have charged a total of 16500 cr for 5 years which means 3300 cr per year which is a massive success for BCCI in terms of money and the whole credit goes to their lethal or super planned business model.
This Time it will be bigger, with more money. Sources said that the base price or starting bidding for the media rights will start from 35000 cr for 5 yrs. Basically, it is double from the previous circles, and it may be going to 50000 cr. (Approx. 6 billion dollars) Companies like Youtube, Star, Google, Apple, Star, Facebook, Zee, Sony Tv18- Viacom Disney Amazon Prime, Netflix. Meanwhile, there are a few companies that can also bid for digital media rights for 2023-2027. So there will be more bidding more crores and in the end, there will be only one winner.
