FC Goa had the best possible start as Noah opened the scoring early in the game however as the champions do, Mumbai City came up with their own response through Greg Stewart in the 17th minute. Constant pressure from the Islanders paid off as Jorge Pereira Diaz put Mumbai ahead 5 minutes before the half. The game then opened up with both teams looking to score. Brand Fernandes restored the parity a couple of minutes later. However, Mumbai once again showed a moment of brilliance to go ahead once again through Greg Stewart.
With FC Goa des[erately looking for goals in the second half, the Islanders started to hit the Gaurs in transition in regular intervals. Eventually, it paid off when Chhangte earned a penalty from Anwar whose hand was found in an unnatural position inside of the box. The no.7 made no mistake to find the back of the net and securing a two-goal lead. Substitute Vikram sealed the deal as a perfect corner found Mourtada Fall who laid off brilliantly, helping Vikram find the net. The Gaurs had tried their best to make a comeback as Brison reduced the deficit following a perfect layoff by Alvaro Vazquez.
Mumbai City were by far the best team in the league, still remaining unbeaten as they look to maintain the same outcome in the next two games.
