ISL 2022-23 Live – Bengaluru FC off to winning start with narrow victory against NorthEast United FC: Bengaluru FC is up and running in the ninth edition of Hero Indian Super League as they pick up a narrow victory over the spirited NorthEast United FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The full-time score-line read 1-0 in favor of the home side where the visitors were left disappointed with a goal being disallowed in the added time.

The second game of the season featured Durand Cup champions, Bangaluru FC and NorthEast United as fans made their way into the stadium after a gap of more than two years. Simon Grayson handed a first start to the emerging player in the Durand Cup, Sivasakhti as Krishna, Chhetri, and Siva flourished from the get-go. Eventually, Roshen Singh’s brilliant run down the left and a perfect pull-back found Siva in the box however, his attempt went inches off the post. NorthEast United had their plans from early doors as they looked to absorb pressure and hit an odd counter.

Blues made a few adjustments as the long-range attempts started to arrive in good numbers. A couple of shots by Suresh and Ramires were easily dealt with by Arindam. Meanwhile, NorthEast had chances of their own as Jithin MS found himself in a perfect position following a mistake by Prabir, the Kerala midfielder couldn’t measure his attempts as they went wayward. For back-to-back days, the first half went goalless and the last 45 minutes seemed to promise much more.

On the other hand, Bengaluru FC had their task cut as NorthEast United put together a few passes to create problems in the Blues’ box. However, Gurpreet ensured his presence with an impressive save. Understanding the shift in the game, Simon Gray opted to go with a few brave changes by taking out Krishna and putting in Javi. Meanwhile, Jon, Matt, and Roman were constantly threatening the wide positions to find the gap but finishes had derailed them.

In the 86th minute, Bengaluru FC earned a corner, and the Durand Cup 2022 final hero, Alan Costa once again found the back of the net from close range as the Blues led in the closing minutes of the game. However, the game was yet to be over as NorthEast United went all out on the attack in the last few minutes, which eventually led to a brilliant goal by Jon Gaztanga but was disallowed by the Referee ruling it offside. However, the replay clearly showed that no players were in the offside position which led to multiple debates among the FANS. Meanwhile, NorthEast United head, Marco Balbul was sent off following his actions during the same incident.
