WPL 2023 – CCI, DY Patil to host the Inaugural edition of Women’s Premier League: The Board of Control for Cricket in India, commonly known as BCCI made a grand announcement of launching the Women’s Premier League after a long wait. The inaugural edition of the tournament will see five teams taking part and facing twice in the group stage. The team who finishes top will directly go to the final, while 2nd and third-placed teams will play an eliminator and the final is likely to take place at the DY Patil stadium. Meanwhile, the latest rumors also hint at a Mumbai-Ahmedabad opening clash however, the schedule is yet to be known.

WPL 2023 Tentative Schedule
According to numerous reports, BCCI is looking to host the WPL Season 1 in a single city with the tournament continuing for three weeks. DY Patil is currently the frontrunner to host the opening match as well as the final with CCI being the other stadium to host the tournament. Wankhede Stadium is locked due to Australia’s Tour to India with a test match already lined up. The IPL Is also knocking on the door hence, the other two stadiums are likely to welcome all five teams.
Talking about the format of the competition, Five Teams will play each other twice and the team finishing top will directly book their spots for the grand final, while, the second and third-placed teams will go through an Eliminator, and the winner will face the top finished team in the grand final.
The tentative date for the Eliminator is on March 24 at CCI and with the final on March 26, at DY Patil Stadium after the fifth and final off day on March 25. So, these are all about the WPL as of now. Teams will be formed through the auction which will occur in a matter of days. So, stay tuned for further updates.
